Hi. My name is John Yannone. I'm a personal injury attorney with Price Benowitz. I want to talk to you today about the issue of insurance coverage. You might want to consider looking on an annual basis, at what your insurance coverage iswith regards to if you're at fault in an accident, and even if you're not at fault in an accident. What I mean by that is that the minimum coverage that one has to get is established by thestate in which you live. Many times, you don't want to just carry the minimum because you want to be protected. You want to protect your assets. For example if you're in Maryland and the minimum coverage is $30,000 for a single personinvolved in an accident or $60,000 for an aggregate of more than one person involvedin an accident or injured in an accident; that doesn't cover very much. There are 2 considerations with that: If you're the at-fault party, you want to make surethat you have substantial coverage in the unfortunate event that you cause an accidentwhere you seriously injure someone, so that they don't come after your personal assets. Similarly, if you are seriously injured in an accident, you want to make sure that thecoverage that you have for liability against someone is high enough so that you can matchthe uninsured, underinsured motorist coverage to that same amount. Many times, if another drives who's at fault has minimum coverage and you have seriousinjuries, you can then go under your own coverage, under your uninsured motorist and underinsuredmotorist coverage up to the limits which you've purchased, to protect yourself in the eventthat someone has very low coverage. Many times, people try to save money on their insurance coverage, not realizing that itis very inexpensive to get that uninsured motorist and underinsured motorist coveragehigh enough to protect your interest in the event someone else does not have the appropriatecoverage.
